Many people believe that social networking sites (such as Facebook ) have had a huge negative impact on both individuals and society.
To what extent do you agree.

Essay

It is believed by many that there is an adverse impact of social media, for example Facebook on people as well as society. I also agree that the impact of websites such as Facebook is clearly negative.

The first argument is that using Facebook results in wastage of time of youngsters, students in particular. They spend majority of their time chatting and posting statuses and videos. This is because sending messages and uploading pictures is more important to them than studying or completing their homework. Moreover, they want 'likes' on their status, pictures and videos from their Facebook friends more than appreciation from their parents and teachers, and for this reason they spend more time and focus more on such websites.

When people start using the social media very much, there is loss of face to face interaction. They stay at their homes in front of the computer for most of the time , preferring not to meet anyone. This happens because they interact with their friends and relatives online so they do not feel the need to meet them in person. Virtual relations become more important for them than their real time relations because they think that they are already chatting with their friends and relatives regularly over the internet.

In conclusion, there is no doubt that there is a huge negative influence of social media on people as well as society because people waste their valuable time using the sites and apps and avoid having real time communication with their kith and kin
