check for validity

I have four phrases with restrictive phrases, and can you tell me whether my assumptions are valid or not?

(By the way, is the above sentence valid? I think I have two independent clauses/sentences crudely?? connected with and and the second sentence in a question form?)

1. an apple of great taste -- it is just mentioning an apple among many appples that has great taste.

2. the apple of great taste -- it is mentioning a specific apple that has great taste.

3. a happiness of a great man -- a particular kind of happiness, the one that is felt by a great man.

4. the happiness of a great man -- the specific happiness felt by a great man

How about the partial sentence below, is my assertion correct?

... consider the crisis as opportunities of transformation and progress.

The opportunities noted here is general opportunities of transformation and progress. There is no specificity, specialness, or prior precedence involved -- it just exhibits or assumes?? a general sense.
