check by native speakers needed, again

With reasonable limits that I wanted to say so much within, I felt that I could not afford to waste words.

It might not sound natural to you native speakers, but does the sentence above make sense at all?

Perhaps this would make more sense:

I wanted to say as much as possible in that speech/on that occasion, without wasting any words.

I can understand it, yes. But I can understand a lot of what non-native speakers say, even when it is not grammatical or strictly speaking, logical.

This says that the speaker wants to say a lot within reasonable limits, but to me, that limits are imposed by the speaker himself. I keep stumbling because people STAY
