This is an odd thing to say to someone. Please explain a little.

I meant someone would say that to me as I was the one who brought her to the restaurant. We already left the restaurant and we are finished eating. She has never eaten there prior to the meal we just had.

Also

is this right

She has /had never eaten there before that meal
(we just had the meal and we are out of the restaurant)?

Yes. But only use Present Perfect if it is soon after the time she ate.
