1. These three words have different meanings.

chastise: to verbally correct - you are in authority and can 'tell off' or basically get cross with someone over their mistake/misbehaviour. To reprimand, rebuke, verbally punish.

criticise: to express a negative judgement on them. It is not connected to punishment or reprimanding (necessarily). I can sit at home at criticise the movie I am watching.

punish: to impose any type of penalty on someone for their misbehaviour. This could be verbal (chastise) or it could be a parent smacking a child. It could be a government putting you in prison or imposing a fine.

2. There isn't really a discernable difference.

3. In this case it means they are not necessarily agreeing with it.

the game itself is amazing, i still remember when my friend told me starcraft is far better than red alert(which is a game that many people love back then) when it first came out. Sorry totally off-topic, but it's nice to see a sc player here

I actually haven't touched the game in about six years or so, but yes it was/is a great game. Anyway, sorry for the O.T. posts.
