CHARITIES

Nowadays, some organizations and charities publicize their activities by introducing special days every year such as National Children’s Day and Non-smoking Day. Why do they introduce special days? What effects does this have?

Today, some special days are mentioned by voluntary movements in order to promote what they have been doing to the residents. There are a number of reasons and several impacts this way gives to them.

To begin with, people tend to do good things on special occasions. In usual days, they are so busy working and studying that they do not have enough time to do charity or care about the poor and environment. Therefore, this action somehow get attention from people and there will be more people involved in those activities such as taking part in campaigns which are for women. Hence, the lack of funding is no longer a serious problem because of course when people are a part of an organization, they have to provide money so that food, clothes and other necessity can be bought and given to the needy.

Consequently, this has a good effect on humans. First, people will be more sympathetic to the disadvantaged, such as homeless children, disabled elderly, and patients who suffer from cancer. Watching them living in such a difficult life will make them cherish what they have and help them, providing a free meal or sharing clothes, for instance. Second, it makes people get closer. Take the Children’s Day as an example. When people, especially parents, are reminded by the advertisements, they probably try to quit working to spend time with their children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews gathering for meals, going out or doing something to tribute to them. Thus, people will be nicer and more friendly with others.

Overall, raising the money for voluntary purposes explains why they advertise their organizations by special days. This way really helps people to have great time with others and sympathize disadvantaged ones.
