Charged with accessory

the following sentence came from some newspaper:

"He was charged with accessory to murder."

i thought "accessory" is countable. should not the phrase "being an" be inserted before "accessory to murder"?

If the name of the specific crime is "Accessory to Murder" then that is what he was charged wtih.

Murder is also countable. There were three murders in the city last year. However, you still charge someone with "Murder in the first degree" not with "being a murderer
