Character that leaves something out?

Hi, everyone.

I was watching the X files and a character says; My husband had a character that leaves something out.

Could someone tell me the meaning of the above sentence?

Thanks!

It's odd and somewhat poor English. Perhaps it means that his character lacks some important attribute.
