Below is a character reference letter I have written on the behalf of a close friend. If you could please provide input on how the letter could be better worded and correct any grammar mistakes, I would appreciate it greatly.
"Your Honor,
My name is ### and I’ve resided in ### since 2012. I am currently employed with ### and have continually served within the Military for eleven years.
I provide this character reference on behalf of a friend, Jane, who is facing felony charges. I have been a close and personal friend of Jane for over three years and have known her to be a kind and loving person who truly cares for those around her. I’ve gotten to know Jane well over the past three years and I believe it puts me in a position to provide a rather unique, albeit personal assessment of her character.
Hearing of these charges against Jane, I was taken aback as she is always hard at work in caring for her daughter (Joan) and two young grandchildren (Jessi and Keli). Jane is extremely loyal and dedicated to her family and spends most days with them. She exhibits how a positive lifestyle is led, working long hours, 6 sometimes 7 days a week. With Jane providing help for her family, her grandchildren are able to maintain a healthy and stable lifestyle. Jane’s parents have both recently, within the past few years, been diagnosed with cancer. She was the first to know about her parent’s illnesses and is the only one truly taking care of them, ensuring they take the necessary steps by seeing doctors and eating healthy. This has clearly been causing her great anxiety and she is in a very stressful position to care for her parents while they are in such a fragile state. They both count on her constantly for their recovery and would likely be lost without her help.
Her concern for others surpasses that for her own self; she goes out of her way to care for others in the community. My own mother, who has always resided out of state, had very limited arm movement, and Jane, with her professional experience in massage therapy, was able to massage my mother’s arm and teach my mother useful exercises to help heal it. She checked how my mother was doing to ensure her arm was healing, and she is to thank for her recovery. Jane’s selflessness extends beyond that of friends and family, as she has helped others in the community with personal and health issues and cared for animals in need. Jane encountered a stray dog roaming her neighborhood with no identification. Having rescued numerous dogs over the years and taken in two rescues of her own, she knew what needed to be done. She immediately took the dog in, which had clearly been mistreated, to care for it while searching for its owner. She contacted me and asked if I would adopt a mistreated dog, I accepted and Jane regularly checks to make sure the dog is okay.
Jane has expressed to me how greatly remorseful she is for committing this offense and is apologetic for any stress she may have caused the community. She has always been a great help to others in the community. As a massage therapist, she has helped numerous people recover from various injuries and pain, not just by closely following standard techniques, but by personally getting to know her patients and their personal issues so she could learn the best way for them to heal physically and mentally.
I’ve personally witnessed Jane showing concern and helping complete strangers. She is such a loving and caring person, that she truly cares for everyone in need. Whether it be giving food to the homeless or helping a stranded family, she is surely someone one would want on their side when help is needed most.
It was definitely a surprise to have learned about Jane’s charges, and I personally understand the gravity of such charges and the possible penalties they carry including imprisonment. Taking Jane away from her family will literally ruin them. As I’ve mentioned above, she has important people in her life who rely on her for stability and support in theirs. Jane is a loving, caring, selfless, hardworking, and respectable person.
Should any of the above statements need any further clarification, or if you require any other information, please feel free to contact me via my mobile phone at ###.
Sincerely,
Bob"
I have previously posted a similar letter but needed to further elaborate on some more details. Please let me know of what corrections and changes can be made as I'm sure there are quite a few. Thank you again for your help.

Because your letter is a little long, I'm just going to go in and make the changes I think would improve it, rather than suggest line by line particular grammatical or stylistic changes you could make. I hope this will prove to be helpful to you. I think this letter is very important for your friend, and so, it is important to you.
