Change (the) size

Hi.

This feature allows you to manipulate/change the size.

Is "the" okay before "size"? The implication is "the size of the object/article". I think "the" is correct. But I also see things like "it's a question of size". "It depends on (the) size".

Can it safely be said that the definite article should be omitted when I think of size in abstract terms (e.g. "a question of size") and included when I think of a certain particular size of something (as in my original sentence)?
