Change of verb word

Hello everyone
It's been a while I've been looking for the answer of a question in my mind but i couldn't find anything.
So in brief
Do we have languages that basically the change of verb word occurs as for instance, the tense changes. For example in English for the verb go in the past form it becomes went and it's entirely a different word. But as we know it has another historical reason. It's just a example to understand what i mean. Are there really such languages that for most of the verbs change of verb word happens ?

I know that's not an answer to your question, but in some languages (like Malay) verbs don't change or inflect at all, regardless of tense! Rick Grimes Are there really such languages that for most of the verbs change of verb word happens ? I would imagine that would make the language inefficient and very difficult to learn.
