CHANGE DIET IN WESTERN COUNTRIES?

Some people claim that what many people eat in western countries is unhealthy food and that their diet is getting worse. Critics say that these countries should change their diet.

What are your opinions on this?

The discussions about unhealthy food in western countries, for certain, cannot be regarded as new, but a large number of people, especially sociologists and lawmakers, still express their deep concern about this issue. To make it clearer, one still has yet to come to an agreement on whether to change such diet or not. Nevertheless, it is my firm conviction that mentioned nations should find alternative food sources because of some considerable reasons given below.

It should be noted that there is a rise on the access to, and consumption of, processed foods, which, beyond dispute, not only have low nutritional value, but also have a detrimental health impact. In particular, those who choose to intake junk foods and instant foods rather than proper-sit-down meals are likely to suffer from obesity and other health problems, such as heart attack or sudden stroke. Increased obesity levels are also thought to be linked with sedentary lifestyle among millennials. For that reason, unless one change inappropriate eating behaviors, their health would become worse.

Another assertion is that when Western countries change their contemporary foods into traditional ones that are usually related to vegetables and fruits, personal health can be improved. Traditional dishes are low in chemical substances and high in nutrients, which make them a good choice to fend off chronic disease and other health problems.

In conclusion, a change in diet is necessary for Western countries because of the alarming rate of poor health. Therefore, people should be aware of what they are eating, and government should introduce some measures in order to alleviate unhealthy food consumption.
