chance

Hi,

Can I use 'opportunity' instead of 'chance' here? What is the difference between them?

Tom surprises her with a chance to relive the worst night of her life, but with a happier ending.

Thanks.

"Chance" usually has a connotation of luck, while "opportunity" has a connotation the person must do something for a specific outcome. But, I agree with Clive that the example given allows either word to be used.
