0Hi there,02br 02br 00I read a line in a Longman textbook which says, 'You are Simon Owen, the chairman of the Environmental Protection Society'. Why did the textbook use a definite article 'the' with chairman? There should be only one chairman in the society. Indeed it is not necessary to add 'the' before 'chairman'. This is not the first time I came across this. What do you think?02br 02br 00simon0-
