Certain uncountable nouns with article

Hi. Why would you say the following words have articles when those seem to be uncountable nouns?

(sentence fragments)

1) ... with a lowliness and patience and meekness which were the delight of ... (Does the article "a" extends to the words "patience" and "meekness"?)

2) ... a humility to the humanity.

#2 does not have enough context to understand the use of the article.

#1 - yes, the article would be repeated. This is "an example (or instance, or kind or degree) of lowliness..." It is not the general concept of lowliness.
