Vorpar's answer is very good and very close, but it's not quite accurate.
Cerebral abscess is more commonly know as brain abscess. Both are acceptable, but if you are writing a scientific document I would recommend you write brain abscess (it gets more MESH hits).
Brain abscesses commonly occur when bacteria or fungi infect part of the brain. Swelling and irritation (
