Yep, thanks, I found it in Wikipedia (though not in any dictionaries).

Either "stand" or "stall" is fine to me in the UK. I'm not sure if there's a preference in US English.

(Incidentally, it's "dessert", not "desert")

Can I say,

She opened the stall under the tree yesterday.

(The meaning is ambiguous though. It could mean that she started up in business yesterday, or it could mean that she's been running the stall for some time, and just happened to be open yesterday.)
