C.E. and B.C.E.

What is the difference between C.E. and B.C.E.? In the Encyclopedia of Mathematics I read, it said that Chinese mathematics started around 1000 C.E. and stopped at 215 C.E. Are those abbreviations even different?

C.E. stands for Common (or Current) Era. It is another name for A.D.

B.C.E. stands for Before the Common (or Current) era. It is another name for B.C.

Monox D. I-Fly it said that Chinese mathematics started around 1000 C.E. and stopped at 215 C.E

That doesn't make sense. It probably should read 1000 B.C.E. and 215 C.E.
