It is true that installation of surveillance cameras has increasingly become prevalent in an attempt to curb crime rates. While there are some obvious drawbacks associated with this phenomenon, I would argue that they are outweigh by the benefits.
On the one hand, the reasons why citizens disapprove of CCTV cameras are varied. Firstly, their privacy is invaded by the conceals one set up by either the states or the private firms. Indeed, law-abiding understandably tend to find anti-crime devices intrusively in that they capture every single movements of their daily activities. Secondly, unlike the police officers patrolling the streets, cameras are incapable of halting the unlawful activities which are in progress. It can therefore be seen that the role ubiquity of camera fail to guarantee a sense of security among the populace.
On the other hand, I belive the advantages of seting up digital cameras in outdoor space are more signficant the the disadvantages. The anti-crime devices such as security cameras have been considered to be designed to deter prospective criminals from breaking the law. For example, a recent study conducted by Hue University has found that petty crime rate has decreased dramatically more than thirty percent since digital devices are utilized in Hue city. Furthermore, these devices also make a valuable contribution to recording crime scenes which are the convincing evidence in prosecuting. Indeed, without these proofs, adversial process would last longer or even the judges could make wrong decisions.
In conclusion, it appears to me that we have more to gain than loose from security devices.
