Causes for /of

Ancient philosophers in Greece, Egypt, India, China, and Persia dabbled in psychology. They sought out reasons for mental disorders, and attempted to determine the causes for certain behaviours.

Shouldn't it be "causes of" rather than "causes for"?

Thanks.

I wouldn't say 'for' is wrong, but 'of' is better.
