When was the last time you called me? 'Cause I don't/can't remember.
1) Would this construction be natural in spoken English?
2) Would both don't and can't be OK?

- Yes, but "can't" seem more likely to me, here in the US, anyway.
- It's not that the difference in meaning is so important but that it's the way we normally say it, not necessarily meaning that we put any effort into remembering.
