Catharsism

Is it a word? I wish to say that a moment was cathartic.

Is "there is a prevailing feeling of catharsism" correct, or will I have to re-word it to exclude "catharsism"?

Much appreciated,
Adam.

Hmm... "there is a prevailing feeling of catharsis"?

I'm not sure if it's grammatically correct, you see. It's quite an enigma.

Well, it would be fine if you were describing the atmosphere in an ancient Greek theatre after a performance of the Oresteia.

What context did you have in mind?
