Catch you later/catch up with you later

How would you differentiate between: "It was nice talking to you. I'll catch you later/I'll catch up with you later"? To me, "catch you later" means "see you later", and "catch up with you later" means "I'll talk to you later". I hope I am on the right track as there might be some overlap in meaning.

Thank you.

To me, "catch up with you later" suggests that there will be some news or new information to be shared at that time.
