"Catch you later" . . . What is the use ?

Hi I am confused about English "idiom" I think ?
When said good-bye to some one, I know there many ways to do it.
It is an idiom to say "Catch you later !" ? To "catch" a person is to say hello ? What is an explanation ?
I am sorry, the question is soft . . maybe I asked wrong? I think "Catch you later" have incorrect grammar for English ?
