Schizophrenia is a mental health disorder that alters peoples thinking, behavior, and mind patterns so much to make them not fit in with reality. Catatonic Schizophrenia removes the victim from reality and shows signs of non responsive behaviors. These episodes last anywhere from a few minutes to a couple of hours depending on the severity of the disorder. There is no known cure for this disorder but there are now medications that can help the patient regulate the episodes. 02br 02br 00 There are early warning signs of this schizophrenia like anxiety and social withdrawal much like many other psycho-mental disorders. Catatonic Schizophrenia can be acquired very fast and without the small early symptoms, sometimes its skips straight to full blown psychosis. The main psychotic features include repeating other people’s words, spending a long time in weird abnormal postures, and excessive movements. I.e. pacing, making loud noises. Those are the catatonic symptoms but some patients have just normal schizophrenia warning signs like unorganized thinking, hallucinations, and/or delusions. 02br 02br 00 Schizophrenia is derived from the brain development early on in life. It stems from too many or too little nerves ending connecting through the nervous system. This leads to different variations in psychosis. When you suspect someone has catatonic schizophrenia you are most likely not going to see them going to a doctor. It is your job to have them check in at the first sign of a catatonic action or behavior. Just because a person has catatonic symptoms it doesn’t mean they are schizophrenic. There are a wide variety of disorders with catatonic symptoms and there is no blood or brain test to see which one it may be. Some symptoms may not last and may go away before treatment, some may get worse as time goes on with the patient, and lastly medication may subdue the catatonic stupors all together.02br 02br 00 This disease has no pattern, it is intense one time and dull another, the person may get a feel for it but they will never know. Some treatments that they will receive form the medical community are electroconvulsive therapy, speech lessons, sedatives and medications. Sometimes they need constant supervision by special medical personnel when certain issues arise. I.e. patient not taking medication, unhealthy way of life, and finally malnutrition. In the worst case the patient may need to be under long term hospitalization. 02br 02br 00 People who are under the effects of catatonic schizophrenia need a strong web of family and friends with the support and care to help them through their troubled times. They can watch for symptoms of the catatonic stupors brewing up and help ease them when they do arrive. There are groups like the National Schizophrenia Organization that have support groups for families and patients dealing with schizophrenia. They teach them about the disease and how to cope with the emotional hardships that go along with it. 02br 02br 00Mr. Hynds you are the best. Thanks for these 4 years.0-
