Hi My understanding is that the film has been remade and, in some ways, the new film is not as good as the original The original was a special piece of work: it was a gem The latest version takes the same ideas, but changes them: it casts a spell over them And why does it do that? It seems that it is done to reach a wide audience: to get as many people into the cinema as possible: that is consumerism An evil eye is the magical power of looking at someone so that harm is caused to that person So the film director has taken a new look at the story; but his look is not kind: it has spoilt what was once a good film. The reason is that the director was concerned mainly with making as much money as possible Hope this helps Dave
