Please, correct me if I'm wrong.
"Cassation is a verification by the court of third instance of the legality and validity of claims and court decisions that have went into effect. In other word, claims and decisions that have passed the appeal stage. Consultation on making a cassation"

Apparently it applies to French law. I have not seen it used in English law. There are equivalent words in English / American law.
