casing, far away/far-off

This pod has a tough casing, and it is difficult to tear it.

Yesterday I was sick until then you gave me that medicine.

She lives in a far away/far-off Africa from here.

I can scare out of him from my home, but I am afraid my mother will scold me.

I will go to London, and will return/back immediately, may be tomorrow itself.

Why you don't put a comma before "but" which is a co-ordinating conjunction?
