Cash-voting vs. ballot casting

Does it mean that we are spending a lot of money needlessly, but we don't go and vote?

Some even argue that cash-voting goes further than ballot-casting: we buy, and thereby incentivize producers, every day; but we vote far less often.

Casting a ballot means voting in an election.

Voting with your cash means favoring a product by purchasing it.

Cash-voting and ballot-casting strike me as non standard English. Than again maybe somebody actually speaks like that?

This was such a great explanation. Thank you so much!

Jemaasjr,

the words, indeed, seem anomalous, though the way of their formation is quite a conventional one, namely, compounding. By the way, 'Cash-voting' is the name David Wattenberg gave to his article on the Whitewater scandal, and 'ballot-casting' is chiefly used as a noun modifier, as in ballot-casting equipment.
