Grammar

Case

I am an English language teacher and I came across these 2 "errors" in a flyer for English teachers. My girlfriend, who is Irish, says they're sloppy, but grammatically correct. I disagree. What do you think?
1. "My students and myself really appreciate the books." I say the case is wrong and it should be "My students and I".

2. "I can do English." My opinion: I can do is wrong here. I can speak, write, understand English, etc. But not do. Her opinion: can do is slang, not wonderful but acceptable.

1-- It is not good grammar at all, but the usage in informal English is common if unfortunate. 2-- Her opinion is right; it is very common casual English-- just the sort of thing to be used in flyers.
