Case

Hi

If somebody says "But in historical terms this wasn't the case" it means that according to history it's not true?

Hi, Yes, that's the idea. Usually, the speaker will first have shown that the event or situation was plausible or possible. Clive

Hi

Thanks Clive

By the way: Could you explain to me why you first used "will have shown" and then "was"?

Hi,

Usually, the speaker will first have shown that the event or situation was plausible or possible.

will first have shown indicates that in such cscenarios the 'showing' will be before the statement that 'it was not the case'.

was indicates the 'event or situation' belongs in the past relative to the 'showing'.
