Carry out/fulfill an invitation?

Hi!

Please could you tell me,

When someone has been invited as a speaker somewhere

how could he express the fulfillment of the expectation of his presence, during his speech?

Maybe:

Tonight is carried out / is fulfilled the invitation I had received long ago to make an appearance at...

I am not sure about the underlined part.

Any corrections are welcome, if you notice any other mistakes.

Thank you
