Thank you very much! But I don't still the meaning of "carry out" in this sentence? She didn't say she would do that, no one asked her to do that, and I don't think she were practising something... I think the "the studies" is something that she built up (the foundation) herself?

I am sorry if I am becoming annoying... Ugh... ;______;

'Carry out' = 'do'. She did the studies, that is what the sentence says—and her studies have encouraged other primatologists.

Did the original question have the incorrect "has" after the blank, or was that just an error when you typed it in?

Okay. Well, "studies" is plural and requires the form "have" not "has." That does make me question the validity of the test.
