What would be correct, people?

"Our calls were not returned, despite our leaving three messages"?

Or, "our calls were not returned, despite us leaving three messages"?

Or, are both grammatically incorrect? :-)

Thanks, peeps.

Hi, peeps. Only the first is formally acceptable and business-like. The second is used casually in conversation but should be corrected in careful composition.
