Carried a valuable lesson

Hi

If you truly look at your relationships with forgiving and truthful eyes, you can see just how much each and every person who has ever touched your life carried a valuable lesson.

--- Does this "relationship" mean just "friendship"? I don't think it only says about a relationship between a woman and man, but just between two people?

--- My understanding is that each person who appeared in my life, a friend, a girlfriend taught me some valuable lesson? Is this what that second part of the sentence is saying?
