Caribbean Mesoamerica

Hi

Have you ever heard the term Caribbean Mesoamerica?

My book says that this is where the Aztecs and Maya lived.

However, according to Wikipedia, Mesoamerica extended approximately from central Mexico to Honduras and Nicaragua (to the Isthmus of Panama), so I'm wondering why "Caribbean"? Does this area include "Caribbean" area as well?

Without any clear understanding of precisely where the Aztecs and Mayas roamed, may I suggest that the term refers to the eastern portion of Mexico to the Isthmus, i.e. the Caribbean side, as opposed to the Pacific side?

Hi,

I take it to refer to the side of the area that is near the Caribbean, and not to the side that is near the Pacific.

Hi

Yes, I think it's the area near the Caribbean Sea.
