carefully or more carefully?

Hi, i'm from Azerbaijan and i'm learning english. The first reason is i'm preparating for university. But i really love English. So my question is about that sentence :"He is a good student, he works carefully than the others." I knew like i must write more carefully instead of carefully. But i saw it's mistake when i was checking my tests. I don't know why. I think it's exception. Can you help me, please? Is there a list of words like that one?

"more carefully" is correct with "than". If your answer pages say otherwise, then they are wrong.

No, it's not an exception.
