career span [is that correct]

What do you think of the grammar and construction?

I would think that the average career span of a nurse is about 12 years. After that, a nurse no longer cares about the patient as much and should look change careers.

Thanks

Hi

The construction is not quite right and I'm not sure about the idea:

- Perhaps the career span of some nurses is only about twelve years. After that, face-to-face work with patients may become more difficult and the nurse may think about changing career

(If they've done it for twelve years, they deserve a medal ...)
