Car keys

I couldn't find my car keys when I was leaving the house.

Do you say 'car keys' even though you usually have one car key or one car key with other keys like the attached image?

Either would be correct but it's more common for people to say keys (in the plural).

If you have a key ring with keys for various different things on it, I think people would usually just say "I couldn't find my keys when I was leaving the house" -- even though it might only have been the key to the car that they needed at that particular moment.
