Grammar

capitalized

Can I say:

All of us should practise the 4Rs in our daily lives. The 4Rs stand for refuse, reuse, recycle and reduce. / Refuse, Reuse, Recycle and Reduce.

If we capitalized them, why should we do? Could anyone give me the reasons?

Hi, I wouldn't say that you have to, but it might fit with the fact that you used a capital R in 4Rs. Just type it out both ways, and see which way looks better to you. Clive

I try:

(a) All of us should practise the 4Rs in our daily lives. The 4Rs stand for refuse, reuse, recycle and reduce.

(b) All of us should practise the 4Rs in our daily lives. The 4Rs stand for Refuse, Reuse, Recycle and Reduce.

Which is correct?

Hi,

There are no firm rules about such matters. Choose the form that looks best to you.
