Capitalization of...

I am writing a story in which two characters are never given names. These two characters are simply referred to as Mama and Father. If these titles are not preceded by a proper noun such as my or her, should Mama and/or Father be capitalized?
Thank you!

My and her are possessive adjectives, not proper nouns. Generally would would say "my mama, my father" with no capitalization. In the case of your story, I think they should be capitalized, especially if that's how the characters refer to each other.
