Capitalization

I want to defend my opinion that "capitalization" is a writing or a spelling error; can provide me with some literature review that support my idea?

I can't find any evidence that this is anything other than a standard "-ise"/"-ize" case, whereby both spellings are valid but the preference tends to be "-ize"/"-ization" in AmE and "-ise"/"isation" in BrE. What makes you think otherwise?
