Capitalization

Is the word library capitalized in the following:

She hid in the Library so that the other students would leave her alone.

Also, what about a birthday cake in the following:

There wasn't any sugar left, so Aunt Stephanie had to borrow some to make this Birthday cake.

I don't think these should be capitalized. However, my teacher changed my sentences as written here.

Please advise.

I think you should ask your teacher why he or she made the corrections. I personally, don't see why they should be capitalised but nevertheless your teacher may have a good reason. Cheers
