Capitalising

Do we capitalise the word following O?

I know O is used poetically, but sometimes the following word is capitalised, sometimes it is not.

O World or O world, O Friend or O friend.

My question is: even if it's not a proper noun, do we still have to capitalise it?

Top answer

It's more commonly spelt Oh , and the following word is not capitalised (unless it's a proper noun).
