The other day, we came across the English grammarical exercises below.
We are supposed to fill in the blank .
1 . An apple ( ) ( ) keeps the doctor away.
I know, the words that we have to fill those blanks with " a" " and " day".
However, Can't we say " every day" ?, I wonder. that is, An apple every day keeps..... ???
Then, I have another sentence.
I donate 10.000 yen ( a )(month). This is the model answer of that fill -in exercise.
Again, Can't we say that " I donate 10.000 yen every month ."
I think "a ... / per...... " has almost same meaning as " every ........" For Example, a day = every day or a month = every month.
What do you think about it ?

You could, but obviously the test wants you to answer with the standard English proverb.
