Cant understand this sentense

Hi,

Cant understant this sentense ... more specifically, I am having difficulty translating the portion marked brown.

Although there is an entry "not see to do something" [*] in my longman ....and a sample sentense with [*]..... I still cannot figure out what this expression means...

I don't know if I understand well but it seems: if you have the law and the facts with you, you don't have to recourse "to pound the table". Its seems that bloggers and magazine do, that's why they pound the table. I'm not sure.
