Can't I compliment my girlfriend's cooking when...

(A guy is happy with the meal his girlfriend has made for him)

GUY: You've really outdone yourself, honey.

GIRLFRIEND: That's enough.

GUY: What? Can't I compliment my girlfriend's cooking when it's absolutely wonderful? Don't be shy, honey.

Is the bold-face part of the dialog natural to you in this context? Can someone's cooking be wonderful or can you only say "This meal is wonderful" or "She's a wonderful cook"?
