Can't help

Is can help always followed by a gerund? Does it mean the same as stop?

- I can't help missing you when we are not together.
- I can't stop missing you when we are not together.

- I can't help it.
- I can't stop it.

- I can't help thinking about my holidays.

Would all these sentences make sense? In which context should we use them?
