Can't get this riddle

I heard this riddle from my girlfriend and she won't tell me the answer. She found it in a book but I can't find it on the internet. Will you help me figure it out?

Youre in a forest. There are 4 exits (North South East and West). In the north there is a black hole waiting to swallow you up. In the west there is a hole in the ground too big for you to cross even by rope. In the south there are 3 hungry lions that havent eaten for 3 months that are waiting to eat you. In the east there is a giant stone slab that is too high to climb and it takes up the whole space. Which way do you go to escape?

I googled it, and got this answer: if the lions haven't eaten for three months, they're dead. Go south. (I don't much like this answer, since it specifically says that the lions "are waiting to eat you," which certainly implies that they are alive.

  • But I don't care for this type of riddle much anyway -- everything about it is too implausible.
  • My answer would just be "The premise is faulty.
