Can/should I improve this sentence?

Hello!

Can/should I improve this sentence?

On January 5, 2007 at this very place at 20 Bridge Road, after the collapse of the stadium, 65 persons died and several dozens suffered injuries.

Thank you!

“persons” is rather formal compared to “people”; but I don’t know where this is being spoken to make that suggestion. “dozens” by itself may be used, but when quantified further by “several”, it should be “dozen” (several dozen approximates 80 people in my mind). ”
